Hump Day...

>> Wednesday, August 09, 2006

It is not as hot today out there. We have a northeasterly flow in place, and that is leading to a pretty good amount of cloud cover early this afternoon. I think most highs will be in the upper 80s. Also, we will likely see a few scattered showers and storms later this afternoon.

A nice Canadian cold front will shift through here by Saturday, and it looks like we will get a really nice break from heat and humidity for a couple of days. The GFS MOS high for Saturday off of the 0z run for CLT is 79...I went 82 in my forecast package today. If all goes the way it appears right now, we will see highs generally in the low to mid 80s and much lower humidity values Saturday and Sunday...I would be happy to see that!

Tropics...
The tropical wave that we have been discussing for days now has become better organized over the last 24 hours. In fact, the NHC is sending a recon plane in there this afternoon to see if a tropical depression or storm has formed. I will post an update this afternoon based on what the plane found....
