My prayers are with all of the people impacted by the horrific earthquake and ensuing tsunami. Some of the video has just been unbelievable.
Cool and breezy today, then a fantastic weekend ahead. The next system next week is a much chillier one....take a look at the video for all of the information.
Some pretty good storms did wind up firing this afternoon, and a number of wind damage reports came in. Here is the storm report map as of 7pm....
The system continues to pull away from the region, and drier, cooler air is settling in in its wake.
Here is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video. In it, I take a good look at the severe weather potential across the region today. Also, a great weekend and another rain chance early next week.
Quick post here. Overall, I still think a nice rain event is on the way for the Carolinas, however, I am thinking around the I-85 corridor, the storm totals might be more around an inch or so. Convection around the Gulf of Mexico has been extremely intense, and it has been bowing out and racing ahead quickly. I feel that big bow echo entering southern Georgia is bad news for those wanting huge rain totals in the interior Carolinas.
Powerful storm system sweeping into the area. Heavy rain and severe potential will pull into the Carolinas late today into tomorrow morning. Please see the video for lots of info....
Our next storm system is gearing up to our west, and a pretty good severe weather threat exists today closer to the storm system...especially this evening in the Lower Mississippi Valley. A few stronger tornadoes are possible in parts of Louisiana and southern Mississippi.
Here is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video. Our next system continues to organize today. It will bring more generous rain amounts and thunderstorm potential to the region. Take a look....lots of good stuff on the video today.
Here is today's edition of the video. I review the weekend storm system, plus I take a detailed look at our next system coming up mid-week.
System behaving as expected this morning. Rain continues to roll through and into the region, and that will continue through this morning. Some embedded storms are also possible, and any embedded storms will have to be watched for severe potential. But the potential is fairly low.
