Wedge not going anywhere anytime soon....

>> Saturday, March 29, 2008

Our wedge is nor firmly established around the Carolinas with temps in the 40s area-wide. We will settle to around 40 tonight with only mid 40s for highs tomorrow. That is quite impressive....Our average high is now up into the upper 60s!

It looks like the wedge will hold through Monday into Monday night as well. Throughout the next 48 hours, look for lots of clouds, occasional rain, and chilly temps. Not good for outside plans, but good for fellow allergy sufferers!

Cool Sat image...

Here is a visible satellite image a saved this afternoon. There are some really neat-looking and well-defined outflow boundaries off of the coast in the western Atlantic. If you see this before sunset this evening, you can click on the 'Loop' link beside the visible satellite on the right side of the page...the animation looks really neat.

Slap in the face this weekend...

>> Friday, March 28, 2008

We have a cold front moving through the region this evening. A few showers, and maybe a rumble of thunder or two, are possible as the front moves through. But the big weather story is the big change in temperatures for the weekend.

We will have a very strong wedge set up this weekend and last even into early Monday. Temperatures will probably struggle to make it up into the lower 50s in spots tomorrow, and most places will stay in the 40s all day Sunday. Add in a cloudy sky and brisk northeast winds, and I promise you...it will feel very cold Sunday.

Next week's weather pattern is an interesting one if you like watching the weather. The weekend wedge should scour out by later Monday and we should warm up nicely Tuesday afternoon. Then, another cold front bring more shower chances later Tuesday and Tuesday night. Behind that cold front, another wedge will set up for Wednesday and Thursday, again bringing in cooler temps. And finally, another storm system looks to push through around Friday, and that one might bring some more showers and storms.

Fantastic Weather Ahead...

>> Wednesday, March 26, 2008

The Carolinas are located to the south of a stationary front, and that will mean delightful weather for us through Friday. Highs in the lower 70s today, mid 70s tomorrow, and upper 70s to around 80 Friday are on the way.

However, we will have a wedge setup over the weekend. That will bring us lots of clouds, much cooler temps with highs in the 50s, and a small chance for a couple of showers.

The wedge scours our early next work week, and temps should warm up to around 70 for highs again by Tuesday or so.

Not much else on the brain this morning. Allergies are plaguing the East household like many other households around the region. Sinus congestion / drainage and what-not. My wife is dealing with a pretty bad cough as well. But after the flu last month, this is nothing so far. We can handle it!

Monday Evening...

>> Monday, March 24, 2008

Well, some spots did indeed see some snow showers this afternoon as a pocket of very cold air aloft rolled through. I was mentioning the chance for a few snow flurries on the air yesterday, but in some spots, the snow came down heavily for a period.

The snow showers are instability driven (in other words, by the heating of the day in this case) and will die out shortly.

Cold tonight with sub-freezing temps on the way. In fact, around here it is always a good idea to hold off on Spring planting until mid-April

In the middle of my weekend here, so I will blog at ya again sometime Wednesday.

Because He Lives

>> Sunday, March 23, 2008

God Sent His Son, They Called Him Jesus;
He Came To Love, Heal And Forgive.
He Lived And Died To Buy My Pardon;
An Empty Grave Is There To Prove My Savior Lives.

Because He Lives
I Can Face Tomorrow
Because He Lives
All Fear Is Gone
Because I Know He Holds The Future
And Life Is Worth The Living
Just Because He Lives

How Sweet To Hold A Newborn Baby,
And Feel The Pride And Joy He Gives;
But Greater Still The Calm Assurance:
This Child Can Face Uncertain Day Because He Lives.

Because He Lives
I Can Face Tomorrow
Because He Lives
All Fear Is Gone
Because I Know He Holds The Future
And Life Is Worth The Living
Just Because He Lives

And Then One Day I'll Cross The River;
I'll Fight Life's Final War With Pain.
And Then, As Death Gives Way To Vict'ry,
I'll See The Lights Of Glory And I'll Know He Reigns.

Because He Lives
I Can Face Tomorrow
Because He Lives
All Fear Is Gone
Because I Know He Holds The Future
And Life Is Worth The Living
Just Because He Lives

- Bill Gaither
