Warm with scattered storms...

Here is today's edition of the video...

Is this March or June? Sure feels like a Summer-like forecast out there with warm and fairly humid conditions and scattered afternoon and evening showers and storms. Those will be the main forecast ideas for today and tomorrow.

A back-door cold front will try to slide into northern SC by Sunday. If that occurs, the air would be more stable over much of NC by Sunday and Monday, meaning less in the way of thunderstorm chances but continued shower chances. Highs would also back down a bit for Sunday.

The warmth will continue next week with lots of 70s on tap.....so, still way above average.

It still looks like a big cut-off low will form around the Lower Mississippi Valley later next week. This feature would then slowly try to develop our way. At this point, I still favor the Friday-Saturday time-frame as the most likely period to see some rain and storms with that system.

See today's video for more on all of this....

Warmth continues...

Here is today's edition of the video....

A new high record high temp was recorded in Charlotte yesterday with the mercury hitting 83...the old record was 82. Greensboro hit 82 which tied the record.

Warmth continues today with highs again reaching into the low to mid 80s. Today's record highs are a bit higher, so records should be safe.

A few isolated showers or storms are possible this afternoon and tonight, but once again, most spots will likely stay dry.

A trough will extend down into our area tomorrow into the weekend, and that should serve to increase the chances of some showers and storms during that time-frame.

Next week....

A big cut-off low will try to form in the southern Plains or the Lower Mississippi Valley and then gradually move eastward. The movement of this system will be a forecast challenge for next week. See the video for more.

Warm pattern...

Here is today's edition of the video....

Highs will surge to near record levels across the region today with lots of low and mid 80s. A few select record highs today:

Greensboro: 82
Charlotte: 82
GSP: 84
Raleigh: 86

Highs will again head up into the low and mid 80s tomorrow afternoon.

This is really an early Summer type of pattern. In this type of setup, a few isolated PM showers or storms are possible both today and tomorrow, but most of us should stay dry.

A boundary drops into the region Friday and Saturday and will likely enhance the daily chance of a few storms.

Behind this boundary, highs will back off just a bit for early next week, but we will still likely be talking about highs 10-15 degrees above average.

Back in the saddle....

Here is today's edition of the video....

Back into the regular routine this morning after some vacation time last week. A big thanks to my buddy Hank Allen for putting up a couple of blog posts through the week.

A weak disturbance is impacting the region today and is bringing the chance of a few showers or storms.....but nothing overly significant.

The big weather story for the rest of the work week will be warmth. Many spots in the piedmont will see highs reach 80 or better tomorrow through Friday. Afternoons will have more of a late-Spring feel.

A frontal boundary will drop into the region Friday into Saturday and bring the chance of some showers and storms. Then, high pressure will try to build into the region off of the Atlantic, which will likely mean highs dropping back toward the lower 70s Sunday into early next work week.
