Warm with scattered storms...

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

A cold front is approaching the area today, and that will lead to scattered showers and storms around the region. A few more parameters for severe weather are in place today compared to recent days, so some damaging winds and hail will be possible with the storms that fire. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

That cold front will stall out near the region tomorrow, and that will mean we will have to maintain the chance of at least scattered showers and storms Saturday and Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Slightly more stable air will try to move in here briefly Monday through Wednesday, and that would mean a decrease in the number of daily storms.

Scattered storms....

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

We remain in a warm and muggy airmass here in the Carolinas. The result will be more scattered showers and storms today with highs in the upper 80s for most.

Another disturbance and a cold front will approach tomorrow and give the region a pretty good coverage of showers and storms with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

That next front will stall our near the area over the weekend, so we will need to continue to mention the chance of some scattered mainly afternoon storms for both Saturday and Sunday.

Not much change as we head through next week with at least some chance of some showers and storms on a daily basis and highs in the upper 80s to near 90.

Numerous showers and storms today...

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

Heavy rain again occurred yesterday in many of the same areas that saw over 3 inches of rain Monday evening. So, portions of the region have seen over 6-7" of rain over the past few days.

Today, numerous showers and storms will be around the region as a cold front nears from the northwest and some upper level disturbances ripple through. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s for most. Again today, some storms will produce locally heavy rain, prolific lightning, and again some damaging winds and small hail will be possible.

We will remain in a warm and soupy airmass into early next work week. That means our forecast will not change much on a daily basis. Highs most days will be in the mid to upper 80s, lows will be close to 70, and we will continue to have a chance of showers and storms, mainly during the afternoon and evening.

Looking down the line, I see absolutely no indication of any significant heat wave here in the Carolinas and mid-Atlantic through the first couple of weeks of August.

Warm and muggy....

**No new edition of the video this morning.....got caught up in some behind the scenes stuff.**

Some folks wound up seeing some big storms yesterday evening with lightning, hail, and winds. Also, over 3-4" of rain fell in some locations, primarily Cabarrus, Stanly, Montgomery, and Randolph counties.

Today will be a warm and muggy day with highs close to 90 and some scattered PM storms again firing. Again, the storms that do develop could involve some strong winds and small hail.

Tomorrow looks like a pretty active weather day with a front approaching from the west. I expect a pretty good round of showers and storms to roll through, and some severe weather is certainly possible.

After that, I will maintain at least some chance of some PM storm each day right on into early next week with highs most days in the upper 80s to near 90.

Muggy with scattered storms....

I had a great time Friday speaking to the summer program over at Childtime Learning Center in Gastonia. They were a smart, fun group!

We will remain in a very soupy airmass today that will be supportive of scattered showers and storms. A couple of storms could produce some damaging wind and small hail. Highs will mainly be in the mid to upper 80s.

Frankly, the forecast will not change much from day to day this week. It will be a humid week, but not very hot with most highs remaining a bit shy of 90. Each day will have a chance of scattered showers and storms, primarily during the afternoon and evening hours.

The tropics remain quiet with no areas of development on the horizon.
