***Behind the scenes graphics work continues today....no time for a video.***

After rough and tumble weather yesterday around the region, a quieter day overall today with only a limited chance of a few isolated showers and storms today with highs in the mid 80s.

The sky will be mostly clear tonight with lows in the low to mid 60s. Tomorrow looks fantastic with lots of sunshine, low humidity values, and highs in the upper 80s.

The heat will build this weekend with mid 90s by Sunday and Monday....some upper 90s even possible in some spots. However, the heat looks short-lived with highs back close to average by mid-week next week.

Scattered strong storms....

**Lots of behind the scenes graphical work at News 14 Carolina this morning, so no time for a new edition of the video.**

A cold front is approaching from the west today, and we should see a fairly hot day with highs in the lower 90s. As the afternoon hours unfolds, some scattered showers and storms will develop, and some of the storms could produce damaging winds and large hail.

We will be behind the front tomorrow, so the chance of rain looks pretty low. Highs will back down into the upper 80s tomorrow and again on Friday.

Heat will build over the weekend, and I still expect the hottest several day period of the summer thus far with mid to upper 90s Sunday through Tuesday.

Hot today....hotter this weekend....

>> Tuesday, August 04, 2009

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video. Looks like the hottest weather so far this year is on the way....

It will be a pretty hot day today with lots of sunshine. Highs will top out in the low to mid 90s around the Piedmont. The chance of rain today in any one spot is very low.

A weakening cold front will approach tomorrow and bring the chance of some scattered PM storms. Highs will still at least be in the lower 90s tomorrow.

I will keep the chance of some afternoon storms in the forecast for Thursday and Friday with highs fairly close to 90.

It looks like the hottest weather so far this year will arrive for the weekend into early next week. Highs will be in the mid to upper 90s Saturday through Monday, and humidity levels will be high.

Exactly how hot it will be is still a bit of a question mark, but just be prepared that it will be unpleasant for any outdoor plans over the weekend.

Hotter...

**No new video this morning....wound up working two markets early this morning, so time is short.**

A drier, hotter pattern is settling into the Carolinas for the next few days. We will see a partly cloudy sky this morning with highs warming into the upper 80s to near 90. A few pop-up PM storms are possible, but the showers and storms look to be pretty few and far between today.

The heat will build tomorrow with lots of sunshine and highs in the low to mid 90s. The best chance of rain will be confined to the coastal plain.

Highs will remain in the lower side of the 90s through Thursday, and the chance of some PM storms returns from Wednesday onward. The best rain chances this week will likely be Friday and Saturday.
