Wet Weather Inbound...

>> Friday, April 18, 2014

An area of low pressure continues to form in the northern Gulf of Mexico, and rain will steadily spread northeastward into the Carolinas today and tonight.

For much of NC, the rain will try and hold off until this evening, and then the rain settles in tonight and continues at times tomorrow.

There will be some generous amounts of rain in portions of the region, but amounts will taper off as you head further north and west. I detail this in today's video.

For Easter Sunday, the chance of a little rain needs to be maintained in the eastern Carolinas, but as you head west, the chances for rain sharply decrease.

Next week is looking very nice overall. There will be a quick chance of some showers or storms later Tuesday, but aside from that, look for good intervals of sun with highs in the 70s.

Cool and quiet today... wet weather from late tomorrow through Saturday...

Highs will be a bit warmer today in comparison to yesterday across the region. Most of the piedmont should see highs in the low to mid 60s under a mostly sunny sky. Lows tonight will dip down toward the 30s again. I think most spots tonight will stay above freezing, however, temps will be cold enough in some areas for patchy frost.

Clouds will increase tomorrow, and by late in the afternoon, rain will become possible as an area of low pressure strengthens in the northern Gulf.

The overall setup looks like a wet one for much of the region as that low slowly begins to crawl up the Georgia and SC coast. The bulk of the rain will likely fall Friday night into Saturday with much improved conditions for Easter Sunday.

There are some question marks regarding how far northwest the shield of heavier rains will make it. I address all of this in today's video:

Cold air in place...

A pretty amazing temperature change has occurred across the region over the past 24 hours. In fact, here is the difference in temperatures during the 5am hour today vs. the 5am hour yesterday:

Sunshine and chilly conditions will be the rule today, and then many of us could see another light freeze tonight.

Forecast question marks have cropped up in the Friday-Saturday time frame. See the video for more:
