Active Storms...

>> Monday, August 07, 2006

I had a sizeable post written up yesterday, but due to a problem with the blogspot.com server, it never made it online. So, my apologies for the lack of posts this weekend.

Some active storms out there right now. Most of the activity so far has been over the eastern half of the viewing area, but additional scattered storms are likely through early evening. Some large hail and gusty winds are certainly possible. 3/4" hail has been reported already 1 mile north of Mt. Pleasant in Cabarrus County. Stay with News 14 Carolina for the latest this afternoon....Tara is holding down the afternoon and evening on-air shift today.

In the tropics, we are on the verge of havine our next tropical system out in the Atlantic. The tropical wave roughly midway between Africa and the Caribbean has continued to organize, and it has some deep convection close to the apparent circulation center. Pretty strong chance this will become a classified tropical system within the next 24-48 hours.
