A wave of rain and storms is moving through the viewing area early this morning. A couple of the storms could be strong to severe with large hail and possibly some damaging winds being the primary threats.
Keep it tuned to News 14 Carolina. I am burning the midnight oil tonight....

Around 1:30ish a.m. a strong cell came through Indian Trail and gave the family a good wakening. The hail crashed against the windows along with strong winds and lightening making for a good scare. Thought a tornado was coming, turned the TV on, but found nothing other than the T-Storm warning boxes. Couldn't imagine if there was a tornado that we would have had time to do anything about it. Guess it's time I buy a weather radio!
Yeah, that cell actually produced half-dollar sized hail! I was on the air with wall-to-wall coverage for that storm.
Absolutely....get that weather radio!
