Better for the weekend...

>> Thursday, October 09, 2008

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video. This will be the last video until next week....I am on the road Friday and the weekend.

Damp, dreary weather is on tap for today as an upper air low gradually fills to our southwest. Occasional showers and drizzle are possible, and I can't rule out a storm in the southern Piedmont this afternoon.

However, drier air will push in here from the north for the weekend, making for a nice weekend forecast. Highs will be in the 70s with sunshine making its return. The weather should be fine for the Bank of America 500 out at Lowe's Motor Speedway Saturday evening.

Fall foliage is in full swing in the higher elevation of the North Carolina mountains, and around the Grandfather Mountain area, the peak of the season will likely be within the next 3-5 days. For lower elevations, the peak of the season is still a week or two away in most spots.

A reminder, send in those fall foliage pics..... matthew.east@news14.com

Enjoy the weekend!
