Believe you can change the "overnight" to "before midnight" in your 10PM post. This was not much more than a 1 hour light rain down here south of CLT. Was a disappointment - the radar sure looked promising all day yesterday and earlier today. Seems like all we can get from the atmosphere is a let down....instead of a lift.

I enjoy reading your blog. You give us the "off the record" stuff that people want to know, but you can't say on air. Keep it up.
Anon...Yep...another rain total disappointment. I really think it is just this La Nina pattern we are in...the main dynamics with storm systems keep cruising off to our northwest.
Thanks for the comment! That is my goal with the blog...pulling back the curtain with a behind-the-scenes look, so to speak.
Matt,
Do models not consider a La Nina or El Nino setup? Given that La Nina is the culprit of storms cruising off to the "northeast" (that is what you meant to type, I think), seems like:
a) the presence of La Nina should be considered by the models
b) the presence of La Nina should be considered by forecasters
Either way, I hope we can get significant rain in here soon and/or stop getting our hopes up time and time again only to see the fat line of moisture turn into a mere ribbon of moisture as it accelerates through our region.
Good news in CLT is water consumption continues to be <90 million gallons a day which is what CMUD is targeting during winter days.
