Coldest air since March takes hold
>> Wednesday, November 08, 2017
A strong wedge is in play around the region for our Wednesday. The result is light rain at times, clouds, and quite chilly temperatures. In fact, I expect our Wednesday highs to only be in the 40s for much of the area.
The wedge will be slow to erode Thursday, so clouds will linger even after some morning rain departs, and highs will struggle to hit 50.
An arctic cold front will then blow through the region Friday. Blustery northwest winds will kick into gear, and the coldest airmass since March will then take hold Friday night into the weekend. A widespread significant freeze is likely by Saturday morning with lows in the 20s. In spite of full sunshine Saturday, highs will only be in the 40s.
