Showers back in the forecast... some thunderstorms possible Saturday PM...

>> Friday, March 28, 2014

As cold front is nearing the western side of the mountains today, and out ahead of it today and tonight, we will have some showers at times in the Carolinas.

Severe weather is a good possibility today from eastern Texas across the Lower Mississippi Valley this evening. This will be in association with an area of low pressure that will develop along that cold front.

That low pressure area will then lift up into the Virginias tomorrrow, placing the Carolinas in the warm sector of the system. Look for some rain at times tomorrow, and then as the low nears, some thunderstorms will becoming increasingly possible Saturday afternoon and evening.

This will be a high shear but low instability environment, and the exact degree of instability will determine the nature of any possible severe weather threat. We will closely monitor things tomorrow, and you need to have a way of hearing watches and warnings tomorrow afternoon and evening should they be required.

A great forecast is then on the way for a large chunk of next week.

Here's the video with all of the details:
