Warm today with a few storms... unsettled Friday weather...

A frontal boundary remains draped across the region behind the departed Beryl. That front will lift north by this evening as a warm front and will kick off a few showers and storms this afternoon and evening.
It will be quite warm today with highs in the upper 80s...even a few lower 90s possible.
The past couple of days have been extremely active in the Plains. Hundreds and hundreds of severe reports have come in, and that system will move into our region tomorrow.
I expect an active Friday around here with showers and storms. Some storms will likely wind up being severe. Damaging winds will be the big threat, but isolated tornadoes and hail are also possible.
This also means the weather could be a challenge for the regionals that begin tomorrow in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Columbia. The good news is the weather should be perfect Saturday and Sunday.
