Lower humidity today....

>> Tuesday, July 07, 2009

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

First of all, 6.53" of rain in Wilmington yesterday evening. July 6 is now the 14th wettest day on record there in Wilmington.

Around the Piedmont, we will see lots of sunshine today, although some high clouds will stream overhead at times in the southern Piedmont. Highs today will mainly be in the upper 80s. Dewpoints are dropping, and that means we will get to enjoy pretty low levels of humidity this afternoon.

Tomorrow we will again see highs in the upper 80s to near 90 with a partly cloudy sky. Humidity values still look relatively low.

It will get a little muggier by Thursday, and in turn we will bring back in a chance of some isolated late-day storms. Really, the forecast will then not change much into early next week with some chance of a few PM storms each day and highs in the upper 80s to maybe lower 90s at times.

I still see no signs of any overly oppressive heat, although highs will likely warm higher into the 90s toward the end of next week.

Below are some viewer photos from the flooding in Wilmington yesterday evening.
