We ended up with some areas of heavy rain and storms yesterday in portions of the Piedmont, and some flooding problems occurred.
Some isolated showers and storms are possible today, but the coverage should be far less than what took place yesterday. We will have a partly cloudy sky with highs only in the lower 80s this afternoon.
More sunshine will work in tomorrow with highs in the upper 80s. While an isolated PM storm can't be ruled out, most Piedmont locations will likely be dry tomorrow.
A cold front will approach Sunday and bring in some showers and storms to the region later Sunday afternoon and evening. Otherwise, Sunday looks fairly hot with highs in the lower 90s.
The heat will crank up a few degrees toward the middle of next week with highs in the mid 90s by Wednesday and Thursday.

Charlotte's high of 75 yesterday was the coolest maximum temperature in July since 2003, when the city also had a day with a high of 75. There has not been a cooler July high temperature in CLT since 1999. Also, the European computer model is showing a possibly record-breaking cool outbreak in the East in about 10 days.
I, for one, am certainly not complaining about the lack of oppressive heat so far this year!
Yep, looks fairly hot mid-week, but both the GFS and Euro show nice troughing in the eastern US a week to ten days from now.
