Coastal Low to Bring Rainy, Windy, Cool Weather

>> Wednesday, September 24, 2008

**Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video. Lots to discuss this morning, so give it a watch. At the end of this post is the Tropical Weather Video....the big topic is the coastal low pressure.**

Lows this morning were cool and crisp with widespread 50s and even some 40s. Pleasant, but breezy conditions will unfold today around the Piedmont with highs in the 70s. Winds will gust to 25 or 30mph this afternoon.

All eyes are on a developing area of low pressure off the Carolina coast. That low will strengthen over the next 24 hours, and frankly, this will likely look and feel like a strong tropical storm for coastal portions of North Carolina. Seas will be rough, it will be very windy and rainy tonight and tomorrow, and there will be some beach erosion issues. See the Tropical Weather Video below for details.

Around here, we will see rain arrive tomorrow, and it will be a chilly, occasionally rain, windy day. Highs for the Triad will struggle to make the lower 60s with mid 60s at best likely for Charlotte.

And, I still think we could see a nice push of colder air by mid to late next week.
