Cooler and drier air moving in
>> Tuesday, October 24, 2017
It was a rough afternoon and evening Monday across the region. As expected, big-time storms worked through just ahead of a cold front, and a number of wind damage reports as well as possible tornadic reports resulted.
Much quiet weather is unfolding for our Tuesday as drier and cooler air begins to slip into the region. Highs are in the 50s today in the mountains with upper 70s and lower 70s across the piedmont. Tonight, a freeze is likely in many mountain locations, and Freeze Warnings are hoisted for much of the High Country.
Wednesday and Thursday will be fairly cool region-wide with 50s for the mountains and low to mid 60s for much of the piedmont under a sunny sky.
Our next storm system will roll through over the weekend. Some rain is a good bet at some juncture over the weekend, and then the chilliest air thus far this season will take hold by Monday and Tuesday.
