Cold with impressive staying power....

>> Wednesday, January 22, 2014

After a little snow in many areas yesterday evening and last night, the cold air has overwhelmed the region. Highs in the piedmont will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s in spite of plenty of sun.

Another shot of cold air... one that is even slightly colder than our current blast, will arrive tomorrow night and Friday. Some spots east of the mountains might even have single digit lows Friday morning.

The staying power of this pattern is very impressive. In fact, I continue to see good indications of continued blasts of cold air for quite a while to come. Please see the video for more....

Hi Matt, any snow chances anytime soon or perhaps some in February? Last year we managed to see 2 inches in February and that was it - I guess that's better than nothing?

Yeah, better than nothing. Nothing at all concrete on the horizon, snow-wise.
