Scattered storms today... Beautiful tomorrow.... Debby thoughts...

>> Monday, June 25, 2012

Take a look at today's video... a whole lot to talk about today...

A cold front will slide through the region from the north tonight. Ahead of that front,  some scattered showers and storms will fire this afternoon and evening.

We will briefly get a delightful airmass in place tomorrow and Wednesday. Highs will struggle to make it into the lower 80s in the Piedmont tomorrow, and we will also have tons of sun and low humidity. It will be warmer Wednesday but still low humidity.

The heat will then really try to build back in here later this week. In fact, some modeling cranks our temps over 100 by Friday and Saturday. I am not going that extreme yet, but just be aware that the heat and humidity will make a big comeback later this week.

Debby....

Tons of uncertainty with the long-term track of Debby. The system is ragged this morning, and I don't anticipate any significant strengthening in the short-term. The system will likely crawl generally northward toward north Florida.

Some models (Euro, Canadian, GFS) take Debby across north Florida over the Gulf stream waters where the system then sits for days and days in weak steering currents. Other models take the system inland over the Deep South.

I am favoring the 'across north Florida' scenario at the moment, but that could easily be incorrect. Stay tuned....
