Heat and humidity building again...
>> Monday, July 05, 2010
Due to holiday scheduling, there will not be a new edition of the Carolina Weather Video today. New edition posted bright and early Tuesday morning....
I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day. The weather was certainly nice for any of your outdoor plans you might have had.
Lots of folks are making a three-day weekend of it today, and we are beginning to feel the heat and humidity build. Highs today will warm into the low to even some mid 90s, but overall, humidity levels will remain lower than a typical summer day.
Highs will warm toward the mid 90s in many spots tomorrow, with mid to upper 90s on tap for Wednesday. Highs will remain well up into the 90s Thursday and Friday as well, and it will get pretty muggy again as the week unfolds.
Over the upcoming weekend, a cold front will approach and bring the chance of some showers and storms. Highs look to back down a bit for the weekend as well.
Tropics...
We are watching several areas around the Atlantic Basin for signs of development. The area of greatest interest is in the Caribbean Sea.

How well do most of the longer term forecasts call temprature? I'm wondering if we ever get a real break from the 90+ weather that seems, but for the last four lovely days, to have taken over.
Dear Anonymous at 9:12AM post:
Although every season has its own beauty in itself and that would be heat and humidity that comes along with summer, I think I will be ready for autumn by the end of the month (July) - I am looking forward to highs in the 60s and 70s that I would expect by late Sept or October.
Always take surface temperatures from the modeling with a grain of salt, but generally speaking, the models do fairly well most times with the overall pattern during the summer months.
I don't think endless heat is on tap for the next couple of months, but we will certainly see intervals of heat and humidity.
I am with you....loved the break from the heat and humidity....and I will love when we settle into that nice Autumn weather!
