Excellent weekend weather....

>> Friday, April 09, 2010

Be sure and take a look at today's video...a few neat radar shots from yesterday's severe weather, plus a look at some terrific weather ahead....

After rough and tumble weather across the region yesterday evening, including a number of wind damage reports, quiet weather is returning today. A much cooler airmass is now here, and highs today will only be in the 60s despite sunshine.

Lows tonight will drop into the mid to upper 30s in many Piedmont locations, and I can't rule out there being a little patchy frost in a few spots. So, if you have some tender vegetation, you might want to consider covering it up tonight just to be on the safe side. But be sure and uncover them early tomorrow!

Sunshine will be with us all weekend with highs in the upper 60s tomorrow and mid 70s Sunday. Fantastic!

Next week look primarily dry, but with most highs in the 70s, it will remain pretty comfortable.

I can't even tell you how happy I was to get rain yesterday, if nothing else just to wipe off that pollen that was on my car. When does pollen season end?

Well, grass and weed pollen continues to some extent through summer, but tree season should end relatively soon....

Thanks, that is good news.

Matthew,
The "heat wave" we had this past week - I hope it is not sign of things to come for rest of the spring. Honestly, that was a bit too warm for me. : - )

TY

Yeah, that stuff the first week of April is not for me. Give me today's weather any time....

Matthew I had a question about severe weather. It seems besides from a decent tornado outbreak in central NC, the rest of the country, including me in Atlanta have had very little in the way of severe weather. Normally by now we are having week after week of storms and at least the possibility of severe weather. What is causing the lull thus far this year? Is it the cold Gulf of Mexico waters? Or is it something else? And what ever it may be do you expect severe weather to pick back up as the weeks go on? Thanks for all you do!!
