5:20pm update....

Tornado Watch is hoisted for much of the region through this evening. Some pretty mean storms have begun to fire, and it sure looks like severe weather possibilities are with us into this evening.

Stay with News 14 Carolina on television for the very latest.

This is a scenario where a few waves of showers and storms are possible over the next several hours. Damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes are all possible.

Stay alert!

Haven't been able to find a hodograph and I don't feel like doing one, but it looks like we have a text book right mover coming our way. The supercell to the north should weaken and the one to the south should stay strong. We'll see if it holds all the way to Mecklenburg county. We are loosing Cape quickly but helicity and low level shear is still extremely high. Super cell composite and tornado composite between 1 and 2. Not impressive but still possible for tornadoes. Low Cape is most likely bringing those numbers down.
