Texas Supercell

>> Saturday, June 13, 2009

Here are a couple of photos my buddy Hank Allen, a meteorologist at WGNO in New Orleans, LA sent to me yesterday. He is taking a few vacation days to head out with our friend Nathan Moore, a meteorologist at Impact Weather in Houston, to do some storm chasing in the Plains states.

Yesterday they were on a storm west of Ft. Worth that produced multiple tornadoes. They have better photos in their cameras, but these were just a couple from Hank's cell phone during the time between the supercell's first and second tornado.

Matthew,

In the GSP Area Forecast Discussion, when they talk about "shotgun likely", what do they mean by that?

Normally they are referring to spreading likely chances of precip over a wide area.
