More showers and storms...

>> Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

Active weather yesterday in portions of the Carolinas. From some serious flooding in the Raleigh area yesterday morning to a powerhouse storm that caused a potential tornado in Cleveland county yesterday afternoon, it was an active day for the region.

For today, we will continue to have the opportunity for scattered showers and storms. The wedge we had in place will slowly erode today, and highs will range from the mid to upper 70s in the Triad to the lower 80s in the Charlotte region.

Again today, some of the storms could be locally strong to severe today, and we will watch that.

Tomorrow, we will begin the transition to a drier, much hotter pattern. There could still be a few storms tomorrow afternoon, but afternoon highs will surge toward the lower 90s.

Both Friday and Saturday look primarily dry, and heat will be our big weather story as highs warm into the mid 90s....even some upper 90s look possible in some spots.

Highs look to ease back down into the 80s as we head into next work week.

A reminder...keep those viewer photos coming.... weather@news14.com And be sure to scroll just below to see some shots of the flooding yesterday morning in Raleigh.

Also, here is an image I captured off of the radar as that big Cleveland county storm was occurring.
