Off we go!

We will be heading to the beach this week. I will be back in the office for my evening shift Saturday. We are heading to a new destination this time...I will give a report when we get back.

I have placed the Edouard RSS feed on the right. If any other systems develop this week, I will not be able to put up any new information for them until Friday evening at the earliest. I plan to be nowhere near a computer, cell phone, or even a television for that matter. And I am very excited about it. Time to 'unplug' for a few days.

Everyone have a great week, and I will see you on the air Saturday evening!

Sunday Evening....

Around here, heat will be the big weather story over the next few days. Highs tomorrow will be in the mid 90s with highs Tuesday in the upper 90s. A few showers and storms return to the forecast if not Wednesday, Thursday.

In the tropics, Tropical Depression 5 formed and was quickly upgraded to Tropical Storm Edouard in the northern Gulf of Mexico. It will likely head into northern Texas....no impact on the Carolinas.

Saturday morning...

*House-cleaning note....the Twitter feed is over near the top of the right sidebar....I should move it back to the top of this section if we get into active weather later today....

A mid-level disturbance will pivot through our area today and give the Carolinas some afternoon and evening showers and storms. Enough parameters are in place for there to be some conern for severe weather. Damaging winds and some small hail will be the main threats.

I think the shower and storm chances will be the lowest in the NW Piedmont with chances getting better once to and east of I-85. I expect most of the storm from mid-afternoon through the evening.

Tara Lane will be holding down the fort for the Triad and Charlotte markets into this afternoon....Monte Montello and myself will be in to take over for the evening shift. Keep it tuned to News 14 Carolina for all of the latest weather developments...

Friday Evening...

Fairly hot this afternoon, but dewpoints are lower today than in recent days, making it a little more tolerable.

A disturbance will swing through Saturday afternoon and evening. To me, this has the look of a system that brings through some low-topped, gusty wind-producing thunderstorms. So, we will be keeping an eye on that potential tomorrow afternoon and evening.

It will stay pretty hot into next week. In fact, I anticipate mid to possibly even some upper 90s Tuesday and Wednesday. Our next shot of some rain and storms will then roll in later Wednesday and Thursday.

On another note, we have wrapped up Jayden's swimming lessons. This morning, they had sort of a pool party where the families could swim with the kids. They had snacks afterwards. I can tell I am getting older....mixing Doritos, Oatmeal Cream pies, goldfish, chocolate chip cookies, and cups of ice cream in my stomach late in the morning didn't feel so good.
