Sunday morning...

First of all, good mood morning to you, and happy Mother's Day!

All eyes are on the severe weather potential around here today. A batch of rain is pushing through the southern Piedmont as I type this, and it looks like it should move through without any severe weather issues early today.

A warm front is located from north Georgia across central South Carolina this morning. That should begin lifting northward later this morning. While we are seeing clouds and rain to greet us this morning, it sure looks like we are going to wind up with a good deal of sun for a while later this morning and/or early afternoon. This will allow the atmosphere a chance to become unstable.

So, it looks like we will see additional showers and storms fire later in the day, and that is where the severe weather risk comes in to play.

With the overnight update, the SPC has the entir area in a 'slight' risk designation area, with the 'moderate' risk up to around the southeastern portions of the Charlotte viewing region. I note that the severe weather probabilities in the slight risk area are on the high end of the slight risk category.

So, stay tuned throughout the day. It still looks like some active weather could occur later in the day...it is not a definite, but it is certainly possible depending on how unstable our airmass becomes with time.
