Mild today, scattered storms tonight...

Here is today's edition of the video....give it a look...

Highs will warm into the 70s for many in the region today. A convectively-induced vort max is located over Louisiana this morning, and that should progress into the Carolinas this evening and tonight. The result will likely be a decent round of scattered showers and storms.

A cold front will move through tomorrow, and I will maintain a chance of at least a few showers or storms.

Sunday and Monday will be dry, and Monday looks quite warm with highs well into the 80s.

A storm system will then move through mid-week. Following that system, some cooler air will arrive for the second half of next week.

April pattern change?

See the video for more on this. The GFS develops a big-time trough later into the month across the eastern US. You knew that at some point the pattern would flip, and there are signs of that occurring as April unfolds.

Easter weekend cool-down?

>> Thursday, March 29, 2012

The European has been relatively consistent in showing the potential for a shot of chillier air late next week as we head into the Easter weekend. The GFS took a step in that direction with its 6z run today too....

Much warmer today...

>> Wednesday, March 28, 2012

As discussed, the little shot of cooler air would be short lived, and that will be evident today as highs surge into the upper 70s in many spots across the region.

A cold front will drop into the region tonight. Ahead of that front, some isolated storms are possible, mainly for the areas north of I-40. Otherwise, look for a quiet and milder night tonight.

Our next system will roll through this weekend. The European is stronger with it than the GFS.....but all in all, I expect some chance of some showers and storms Saturday. How much rain remains to be seen. See the video for more.

The European model also continue to advertise the chance of a shot of chillier air later next week in the days leading up to the Easter weekend. See the video for more on this as well....

Beautiful today...frost potential tonight??

>> Monday, March 26, 2012

Here is today's edition of the video....give it a look.

After some very unsettled weekend weather with hail, wind, and flash flooding in some areas, we beautiful weather day is set to unfold today with sunshine and highs well into the 70s.

However, a shot of chillier air arrives tonight and will last through tomorrow night.

Frost potential...

A challenging temp forecast tonight with a few variables in play. Chilly high pressure will quickly build from the Great Lakes down the Eastern Seaboard, pushing some chilly air into the region tonight. If the wind can relax late tonight, many Piedmont and foothill spots could see lows in the 30s, which could be cold enough for some frost in some areas.

Now, many areas could very well stay a little too warm for frost, but to be on the safe side, make precautions tonight to protect your tender vegetation.

Tomorrow's highs will only make it into the lower 60s in many spots. However, beginning Wednesday, highs will rebound into the 70s.
