Quick Post...

The weather is extremely nice out there this weekend...highs in the mid 70s today...lower 80s tomorrow with very low humidity values. Like we saw this morning, Sunday morning will feature excellent "coffee weather"...in other words, great weather to take the morning cup of coffee outside and enjoy the temps in the 40s!

Quiet weather will be the rule for much of next week. Highs will generally be in the low to mid 80 with lows back in the 50s by Tuesday morning. An isolated shower will be possible Monday or Tuesday afternoon, but the rain chances in any one spot look very small.

Another cold front will try to approach late in the week, but the timing of that front is very much in question.

It was good to have mom in town this past week...dropped her off at the airport early this afternoon. We all thought it was a good time for a visit, and we all had a great time.

Where there's smoke, ......

>> Wednesday, May 16, 2007

there's fire. But that fire is well off to our southwest. If you have been outside today, you have probably smelled the smoke in the air. That smoke is actually from the wildfires that are raging across southern Georgia. We have stiff winds out of the southwest, and that is bringing that smoke right up into the western Carolinas.

We will probably be dealing with the smoke through the afternoon hours. If you are sensitive to air quality issues, it is probably a good idea to remain indoors today of you can.

A front is approaching, and that will ignite numerous shower and storms late this afternoon and this evening. A few storms could be strong to severe, and we will watch it closely.

A cooler airmass returns tomorrow with highs back toward the low to mid 70s.

Mother's Day

>> Sunday, May 13, 2007

I hope all of you mothers have had a wonderful Mother's Day. My family has enjoyed Mother's Day. Mom is in town, and I am glad she is getting to spend the holiday with us. We all went out to eat after church this morning and had a good lunch before I came into the office today.

And I just want to say a special "Happy Mother's Day" to my lovely wife. She is a wonderful wife and mother, and I sure do love and appreciate her.

On the weather front, we will have great weather to enjoy Monday with lots of sun, highs in the 70s, and low humidity values. Get out and enjoy!

Our next front will roll through later Wednesday, and in advance of that front, the chances for showers and storms are quite good Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. Behind the front, another shot of cooler air rolls in with highs back in the 70s by Thursday.

By the way, if you have travel plans to the Northeast next weekend, there looks to be a pretty nasty low pressure area develop off of the coast that could spread chilly, rainy, and windy conditions into much of New England, especially the coastal sections, next weekend.
