Beautiful Weekend Weather...

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

Milder weather is arriving, and highs today will be in the upper 60s in many spots....low to mid 70s for tomorrow.

For the trick-or-treaters this evening, no problems at all with a clear sky and temps slipping into the 50s. Lots of sun will be with us all weekend.

A big trough looks to swing in here toward the end of next week and bring some rain chances followed by a turn back to colder temps. See the video above for details. I think much of mid-November could be pretty chilly.

At the top of the page it my brand new Winter Outlook Video....lots of folks have been asking about my ideas for the upcoming Winter, and there they are as of now.

Frost on the Pumpkin.....again....

Many locations made it down into the 20s this morning, including 27 in Charlotte and 29 at the PTI Airport in the Triad. We will have one more cold night tonight with most Piedmont spots near or just below freezing tomorrow morning.

A warning trend is beginning, and we will see highs up toward the upper 60s tomorrow with low to mid 70s Saturday. Highs back down into the 60s again Sunday.

Great weather for trick-or-treating tomorrow evening with a clear sky and temps falling into the 50s.

An Atlantic fetch of moisture will push in here next week, and we could see some showers at some point...probably Wednesday or Thursday. But that is not set in stone just yet.

I still like the idea of heading back toward a colder pattern again between November 7-15 or so....

On another note, my youngest daughter, Julianna, turns 2 today! Truly amazing....

Wednesday....chilly weather continues...

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video. Toward the end of the video, I give you some initial thoughts on the first half of November.

Another couple of cool days are on the way with highs in the 50s for much of the Piedmont today and then 50s to lower 60s tomorrow. Everyone should be back in the 60s for highs Friday.

Tonight will probably be the coldest night of this cold snap with lows in much of the Piedmont in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

The weather looks great for all for all of the little ghosts and goblins Friday evening with no rain and temps dropping into and through the 50s.

Ski season! The Cataloochie ski resort opened for the season yesterday, and many of the North Carolina resort areas continue to make snow!

And, how about that snow up in the Northeast. Parts of New York have picked up 10-20" of snow! Wow!

Sleet!

>> Monday, October 27, 2008

Some areas of precip did in fact move through portions of the state this afternoon, and it continues in eastern North Carolina this evening. In many spots, the atmosphere was cold enough for some sleet to occur....this was in portions of the Triad and the Triangle. It is not often you see that in October here in the Piedmont!

I have to say....Stormcast, our in-house RPM model, picked up on this, and the radar presentation this afternoon looks very much like the RPM model this morning. So, score 1 for Stormcast on this one.

Cold air will continue settling into the region, and temps will drop quickly this evening.

About time to get a fire going in the fireplace!

Still think freeze coming this week...

>> Sunday, October 26, 2008

We will enjoy a very nice day today with lots of sun and highs in the lower 70s. Enjoy!

Temps begin to chill tomorrow, and I think as soon as Tuesday morning, some folks could see a light freeze. Certainly freezing temps look like a good bet across the Piedmont by Wednesday and/or Thursday morning.

I have been mentioning that I thought a freeze would occur this week for quite some time now. This morning, the MOS data is showing it. So, now that that is the case, you will see more and more people mentioning it now.

Everyone enjoy your Sunday....I will be back in the saddle at the big 14 tomorrow morning for the Triad market....new weather video should be posted by 6am.

Off to get our normal Sunday morning cinnamon rolls cooking and get the kids ready for church....
