Scattered storms today....heat on the way...

Here is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video....


After a day and night that featured widespread rain and storms, I expect more scattered showers and storms today. Again, any storm could produce lots of lightning, locally heavy rain, and the potential for some hail and damaging wind gusts.

Heat will build Friday through the weekend. I think our weekend highs will be close to 90 for many in the region, but rain chances look very slim. So, overall, pretty good news for the races out at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Monday....

Had a wonderful time emceeing a Time Warner event in conjunction with the All-Star race out at Charlotte Motor Speedway Saturday. Met some great folks and had a great time. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to do that.

The only downside is that I lost a large portion of my voice....so, if you notice I sound strange (stranger than normal anyway!) on-air today, that's why.

Tropical Storm Alberto formed Saturday off the SC coast, and it's currently located east of the FL and GA coasts. Alberto will head northeast and out to sea, remaining offshore. A few showers will occur along the coast today and tomorrow, and there will be a slightly higher rip-current potential, but not a huge deal if you have beach plans. 

Around here, look for a few showers and storms today, and then showers and storms look likely tomorrow and Wednesday as a cold front nears.
