Rain chances develop in...

>> Wednesday, November 03, 2010

The chilly regime continues today with lots of clouds and highs again in the 50s. The atmosphere continues to moisten, and in time we will see some light rain and drizzle develop into the region today.

As an area of low pressure develops and strengthens along the coast, rain will settle in later tonight and through much of tomorrow. I don't expect heavy amounts of rain, but some spots could possible see up to a half inch or so. Temps tonight will be in the 40s with daytime temps tomorrow only making it to the low to mid 50s in many spots.

Big blast of cold air...

A major shot of colder air will begin to blow in here by Friday, and Friday will be a blustery day with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Some snow flakes will likely fly up in the mountains, and I can't rule out a few patches of sleet around the Piedmont Friday.

That shot of cold air will set us up for a pretty cold weekend. Highs Saturday might struggle to reach the lower 50s despite a sunny sky, and lows will be in the lower 30s by Saturday morning for most. Sunday morning will likely be the coldest morning with Piedmont lows in the upper 20s.

Milder air will return next work week with some 60s and even some 70s back in place for highs by mid-week.

Tomas...

Tomas has weakened to a tropical depression this morning, but the system should intensify again and head in the general direction of Hispanola.

Bring on the bitter cold and winter weather! I will be glad when it gets and stays cold.

Mountains will have a nice snow event over the next few days. No accumulating snow in the Piedmont on the horizon.
