Change to colder weather...

>> Monday, April 06, 2009

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

We have a cold front sliding through our region this morning, and that front will continue to bring the chance of showers and some thunderstorms. A few storms could be strong to severe, especially the closer you get to the coast this morning.

This afternoon will be very breezy with winds out of the west gusting to 30 or 40mph. Highs will be in the mid 60s for most. Lows tonight will drop down into the mid to upper 30s in many spots.

Tomorrow will be quite chilly with highs in the upper 40s to near 50 and a blustery westerly wind.

Up in the mountains, upslope snows will kick in by this evening and last through tomorrow. Many spots will pick up accumulating snow, with some locations possibly picking up 4 to even 8 inches or more in isolated spots!

Here in the Piedmont, I think a light freeze is likely tomorrow night into Wednesday morning with lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s. So, growers will need to take precautions to protect their plants tomorrow night.

Milder weather will push back in later in the work week with highs back toward the 70s by Thursday.

Good Friday will likely feature some showers, but right now Easter Sunday look dry. It will be cool for sunrise services Sunday morning with morning lows likely well down into the 40s.
