Friday...

Our area of low pressure came ashore overnight not far from Myrtle Beach, and it continues to move WNW through South Carolina today. We will see occasional showers today and tonight. It is still pretty breezy today, but those winds will greatly subside tonight.

Our weekend will feature the chance of a couple of showers, especially during the afternoon hours, but all in all, not a bad weekend. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s Saturday and upper 70s to lower 80s Sunday.

our next cold front is still pegged to move through here Tuesday or Wednesday next week, and I still anticipate a nice push of chillier air behind it. Some of the modeling is backing off on the amount of colder air for our area, but I am not as of now. We will see.

Kyle will head for a landfall in New England of the Canadian Maritimes late this weekend or early Monday. It could be a hurricane upon landfall.

Everyone enjoy the weekend. For fans of SEC football, this weekend is a good one. Match-ups include Georgia-Alabama, Tennessee-Auburn, and my Mississippi State Bulldogs at LSU. Then the Panthers host the Falcons Sunday in a big NFC South divisional match-up....should be fun.

Kyle has formed....but not along the coast.....

Our low pressure along the coast has still yet to me declared an official tropical system by the NHC, in spite of it having an eye-like feature at times and warmer temperatures in the eye than in surrounding sections of the system. The NHC maintains that the system is not really tropical in nature and is still associated with a frontal boundary.

Like I have been mentioning, official declaration or not, this will look and feel like a strong tropical storm along the Carolina coast as it makes landfall.

Our disturbance north of Puerto Rico has been declared Tropical Storm Kyle...the official track takes it into the Canadian maritimes.

All eyes remain on the area of low pressure strengthening and approaching the Carolina coast today. The wind field with that low is very impressive, and we will continue to see windy conditions through the day with gusts possible exceeding 40mph at times today and tonight.

Along the coast, this will look and feel like a strong tropical storm with high winds, significantly increased surf, lots of rain, and beach erosion issues.

In terms of rain, we will see areas of rain settle in as today unfolds, and I anticipate periods of rain tonight and tomorrow. Highs today and tomorrow will only be in the low to mid 60s.

The weather improves for the weekend with only some lingering showers Saturday and a dry forecast Sunday.
