Danny is born.....

Lots of tropical talk in today's video....give it a look today. Also, a taste of Fall looks likely early next work week....

We will have some fairly hot weather today and tomorrow with lots of lower 90s for highs. Rain chances will likely remain confined to the coastal plain as well.

A cold front will drop in and bring a better chance of some showers and storms by later tomorrow night and especially Friday. And the chance of some showers and storms will be with us at times over the weekend.

A push of Autumn-like air will settle in here early next work week, and we could very well see some upper 70s for highs and 50s for lows by Tuesday and Wednesday! Up in the mountains, some 40s are possible for morning lows next week!

Tropics... Tropical Storm Danny has formed north of Hispaniola. Max winds are at 45mph as of the 11am advisory.

Danny looks to make a very close run with the North Carolina coast Friday night or Saturday morning. It is possible this could strengthen up to hurricane status if it gets it act together. It is not yet time to cancel any beach trips, but please keep advised with the latest on this system.

Remember, Tropical Update at :21 and :51 past every hour or News 14 Carolina.

Warmth builds over the next couple of days.....better shower and storm chances to end the week....fall-like air on the way?....and a potential tropical system for the Carolinas? See the video below....

Fairly quiet and warm weather will be with us for the next few days. The chance of rain today through Thursday is pretty small. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 80s, with lower 90s on tap tomorrow and Thursday.

By Thursday night and Friday, our next cold front will approach and bring in some pretty good chances of some showers and storms.

We are monitoring a tropical wave northeast of Puerto Rico that has some chance of becoming a tropical system. Whatever can develop out of that could make a run toward the Carolina coast by Friday or Saturday. We will watch it closely....

Back at it....

My family and I had a great time last week on vacation. That alarm clock was rude this morning!

At any rate, here is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video. More trouble could be brewing in the tropics....see the video for details.

We began the day with a few showers and storms around the region today. A severe thunderstorm warning was even issued for Rowan county due to some small hail. As today continues to unfold, we will have a chance of some isolated showers and storms. However, I expect them to be few and far between. Highs will be in the mid 80s.

The forecast looks mainly dry tomorrow through Thursday with highs in the upper 80s tomorrow and lower 90s Wednesday and Thursday.

Shower and storm chances return to the forecast for Friday and the weekend.

Tropics: Bill has exited the Canadian maritimes and will race across the north Atlantic Ocean.

I am getting more interested in a tropical wave east of the Caribbean islands. It looks like that has some chance at development, and whatever can come out of that would likely head in the general direction of the Carolinas later this week.
