Drier air working in...

>> Friday, July 24, 2009

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

Drier air is settling into the region today, and you will notice the much lower humidity values today compared to the past couple of days.

We will see a good amount of sunshine today with highs warming into the upper 80s. The best chance of showers and storms today will shift to around I-95 and points eastward. However, I can't rule out a shower or storm near Richmond and Montgomery counties and points east from there.

Tomorrow will be a warm day with a good bit of sun. Most highs should be in the lower 90s, and humidity values will still be fairly low. Again, the best chance of seeing a storm will remain east of here.

Sunday will feature highs in the lower 90s, and a couple of isolated PM storms are possible.

Next work week looks pretty humid with lots of highs in the upper 80s and daily shower and storm chances. However, we should round out the month of July by continuing to avoid any oppressive heat.

Back at it....

Back in the saddle this morning after being away from the office for about a week. I got back home a bit after 8pm yesterday evening from some training up in our Raleigh News 14 station...now back to a regular work routine for a while.

A cold front will interact with a moisture-laden airmass across the region and kick off some scattered showers and storms today into this evening. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 80s for most.

Drier air will work in here behind the cold front tomorrow, and that should mean any shower and storm chances will be confined closer to the coast. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90.

Lower 90s with lots of sunshine are on the way Saturday, then things get muggier again with scattered storm chances returning Sunday and lasting much of next week.

There is an area of low pressure off of the mid-Atlantic coast that will bring rainy, squally weather to the southern New England coast today and tonight, but the system will likely not be able to become a formal tropical system.

Unsettled weather today and tomorrow...

>> Thursday, July 16, 2009

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video. Some showers trying to develop into the Piedmont this morning from the mountains. Then we will have some more scattered storms fire this afternoon as a cold front gets a little closer to the area. Highs today should be fairly close to 90.

Tomorrow looks quite unsettled. A cold front will pull through the area, and that will likely give us a nice round of showers and storms.

A few strong to severe storms are possible today and tomorrow....tomorrow probably being the greatest chance.

Cooler and drier air will settle in for the weekend. While I can't completely rule out an isolated shower Saturday or Sunday, I think most of us get by with dry conditions and highs only in the mid 80s at best.

Next week, it looks like tropical moisture will surge in here from the Atlantic, and that will likely lead to good shower and storm chances at times next work week.

One computer model, the Canadian, is up to its antics again in developing a tropical system near the Bahamas early in the week then lifting it up just off the Carolina coast. That is an outlying solution, but we will keep an eye on it.

This will be the last regular blog posting for a while. I am out of town this weekend, and then I will be over in Raleigh Tuesday and Wednesday next week for some training regarding our graphics system.

I might check in from time to time, especially on the twitter feed. It is embedded on the right.

Enjoy your weekend!
