Fantastic Weekend Weather...

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

After another cold start with some teens in many Piedmont locations, the big warm-up begins today with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s under a sunny sky.

Let me tell you....tomorrow will be fantastic with sunshine and highs back into the 60s. Enjoy!

Highs will again be in the 60s Sunday, but some clouds will roll in during the afternoon. However, it still looks like a very nice day.

If you want to get in a ski trip this weekend, go for it. The ski conditions will still be very nice, and the weather will be mild. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the 50s in many mountain locations. An isolated shower is possible Sunday with better shower chances Monday.

Back in the Piedmont, we will briefly cool down behind a back door cold front Monday with highs in the lower 50s. But I expect highs right back into the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday.

It still looks like we will see a rain-producing system move through Wednesday night into Thursday. Behind that system, I still like the looks of where this pattern could head from around Valentine's Day forward. The pattern for the second half of the month looks loaded with potential. Will that potential be realized? Time will tell....

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video. Stick with it till the end of the video....second half of February could be exciting.

Frigid start today with many Piedmont locations down into the low to mid teens. Highs today will again struggle to make it into the mid 30s for most. Tonight will again be down into the mid to upper teens in many spots.

However, a nice warming trend will begin tomorrow with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s, and this weekend will feature highs in the 60s.

A dry cold front will move through late Sunday, and behind that front we could see somewhat of a Carolina wedge configuration set up Monday and Tuesday of next week. A few showers can't be ruled out, especially Tuesday, but the next major storm system will likely move through Wednesday night into Thursday. That one could bring a nice round of rain to the region.

As I have mentioned before (and see the video...I get into some of the specifics of this), I am getting pretty excited about the potential for the second half of this month. The overall pattern looks like a good one if you like winter weather in the mid-Atlantic, so for those of you that have missed out on significant snow so far this winter (that would be me!), it is not time to give up just yet. Potential is still there after we go through a quiet stretch for the next week.
