Midnight....

Well, after a couple of tornado warnings and a couple of severe thunderstorm warnings, it looks like things are finally settling down tonight for the Charlotte region. Tornado warnings were issued for Cleveland and northwest Gaston counties in the Charlotte News 14 Carolina viewing area, and Severe Thunderstorm warnings were issued for Iredell and northern Rowan counties. Several reports of damage came in, and I will try to post those tomorrow.

The evening sort of turned into a blur, but I wound up doing around a couple of hours or wall-to-wall coverage and a ton of live hits. I am about beat.

Saturday Evening...

Scattered showers, and a thunderstorm or two, will remain possible this evening as a cold front approaches. If any significant storm develop, some gusty winds and hail will be possible.

A big upper air low will gradually work overhead over the next 48 hours. Look for a good deal of clouds tomorrow and Monday as that occurs. While I can't completely rule out a shower Sunday, I think we will have better chances for some scattered afternoon showers Monday as the upper air low (and its very cold air aloft) move right overhead.

After that, the weather looks pretty quiet through the work week. The GFS might be a bit too fast in dropping in a cold front toward the end of the week...

Midwest Earthquake

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit the Midwest early this morning, and it was felt over a large area....even down into the mountains of north Alabama.
