Back....

After some much-appreciated vacation time, I am back in the weather office today. My wife and I had the opportunity to take a cruise, and let me tell you....it was wonderful. It was so nice just to be able to sit back and relax....not having to think about what you will do for your next meal, not having to worry about being somewhere at any given time, and just letting the great cruise staff take excellent care of you. It really was very mentally relaxing. We did not take the kids with us on this trip, so now I just want to turn around and take them on a cruise right now. In fact, we were trying to devise some way of just hiding out on the ship, having the kids brought to us, and staying on the ship for as long as possible. But alas, reality awaited.

So, we are thrilled to be back with the kids again, and it is always good to be home. And, as I often mention, I really do love my job and am very thankful to be able to do my hobby for a living. However, I won't lie to you....I sure wish somebody was going to turn back our bed tonight and leave little mints for us, and I wish I was about to head to the dining room for one of the seven times per day that I ate.

I want to thank Jeff Crum and the rest of the staff here at News 14 Carolina. As it turned out, we wound up being very short-staffed for the past week. I know several folks, especially Jeff, put in a lot of hard work for multiple markets this past week, and I really do appreciate it.

Thursday Evening....last post for a week.....

Wedge was indeed in place today with temps in the 40s much of the afternoon....quite chilly for April 3.

The wedge will scour out by daybreak Friday, and it will be much warmer Friday afternoon with highs in the lower 70s. In fact, with a few intervals of sun, some spots will easily reach the mid 70s.

Instability will creep in here with the warmer temps, and I expect scattered showers and storms to be possible tomorrow afternoon and night. Then, the main storm system pulls through Saturday will a good round of rain and storms. Some good rain amounts look to fall Saturday, and a few strong to severe storms will be possible anytime from Friday afternoon through Saturday.

This will be the last post from me until probably Friday, April 11. I will be taking some vacation time and will be nowhere near a computer during that time. I love and am so thankful for my job, and I am always thankful for getting to do my hobby for a living. But it will also be nice to take a step completely away for a week and re-charge the batteries.

Everyone have a great week, and I will blog at you the 11th!

Wednesday Evening...

Well, don't look now, but another wedge is heading into the Carolinas. This wedge will make for a dreary, chilly, and occasionally rainy Thursday to the Piedmont. However, this wedge will not last as long as our last one....it should be long gone by Friday morning.

That is when our next system will begin to approach the region. I expect some showers and storms Friday afternoon and especially Friday night. There is some potential for severe weather, and that will be watched.

After that system clears our Saturday, the weather looks relatively quiet through mid-week next week.

Now a whole lot on the brain this evening, so I guess that will do it for now...
