...THE URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL  
530 PM EDT FOR MECKLENBURG COUNTY... 

AT 456 PM EDT RADAR AND AUTOMATED GAGES ESTIMATED THAT AROUND TWO  
INCHES OF RAIN HAD FALLEN OVER THE CHARLOTTE METRO AREA...WITH THE  
HEAVIEST RAIN HAVING FALLEN BETWEEN SOUTHPARK AND EASTLAND MALLS.  
SPOTTERS REPORT THAT WATER IS UP TO TWO FEET DEEP IN SPOTS IN THIS  
AREA.  

WHILE THE HEAVY RAIN HAS ENDED...AREAS OF URBAN FLOODING IN POOR  
DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW SPOTS WILL CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 30 MINUTES.  
FALLEN TREES AND LARGE LIMBS WILL COMPLICATE TRAVEL PROBLEMS IN THIS  
AREA.  

RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON SMALL CREEKS 
AND STREAMS...AND PONDING OF WATER IN URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS... 
STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER POOR DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW 
LYING SPOTS.

Happy 4th!

Back in the saddle today. All is quiet on the weather front for the Charltote region, and the weather will be fantastic for all of the fireworks displays and outdoor plans this evening. I can't remember a more pleasant-feeling 4th of July...it has just been great.

Everyone have a safe and wonderful evening. Be careful out there, and enjoy whatever festivities you have planned. Let's all remember our troops who continue to battle for the freedom we enjoy. And we can all thank God for the privilege of living in this great nation.

Winding it down...

Well, another day....more wall-to-wall weather coverage. Forsyth County went under a severe thunderstorm warning just prior to 5pm, and off I went for 50 minutes of wall-to-wall coverage. Not that bad, but when you consider that I was on the air at 1:51 this afternoon and I am still sitting here waiting for the National Weather Service to cancel the severe thunderstorm watch for parts of the area, it makes for another long day. And this is day 9 in a row working for me. So, while I am thankful and happy to have the opportunity to provide you with the level of severe weather coverage that we do, I am also quite ready for some off days.

And so, I will be off Friday through Tuesday before hopping back on the air Wednesday evening. We are heading out of state during that time to my wife's high school reunion, and visits with family and friends will take place as well.
