Quiet Monday weather... some rain later tonight into tomorrow... a little snow later in the week?

>> Monday, January 13, 2014

Back in the saddle this morning after some time away on vacation this week. It was a pretty wild weather week with arctic cold and then severe storms Saturday morning.

We will follow up a quiet weather Sunday with a nice day today. High clouds will be on the increase, and highs will top out in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Rain will spread in tonight and extend into tomorrow morning. However, this doesn't look like an overly heavy rain event.

A pretty potent upper level disturbance will swing through Wednesday and should wring out some rain or snow showers. At this point though, I am not expecting enough precipitation for it to be a big deal.

Thursday and Friday look like chilly and dry days, and then we await the next piece of upper level energy Friday night into Saturday morning.

The European model continues to orientate the energy in a way that produces some snow in a good portion of the region while the GFS remained dry with the 0z run. The Canadian model printed out a bit of snow, but it was very light.

Glad you got some time off and are back in business.
Do the long range models show any signs of significant snow changes?

In response to Mark Bryson at 2:06pm: Hi Matt, nice to have you back and hopefully the vacation was very helpful! Yes, as Mark said, it would be nice to see some snow chances in the near future, for in about 60 days or less, we will be in spring! Look forward to your feedback. God bless, TK

Thanks, Mark and TK. Was nice to unplug for the week. No, nothing concrete as far as snow chances. However, the idea of below average temps in the eastern US more often than not continues to be indicated, and of course, that is the first ingredient.
