Scattered storms possible today... big severe weather threat in the Plains...

>> Wednesday, April 17, 2013

An overnight complex of storms made it into the mountains and then decayed as it tried to move into the foothills and piedmont this morning. However, that complex has put down a boundary that will likely aid in the development of some scattered showers and storms in the region later today and into this evening.

In the meantime, a big severe weather threat will unfold in parts of the Plains states...especially Oklahoma and surrounding areas. That significant severe weather threat will then spread into the Mississippi Valley region tomorrow. See the video for much more on this.

That system will roll into the Carolinas Friday and bring a round of rain and storms. A few storms could be severe, but the threat does not look as significant as it is in locations to our west.

Much cooler air will follow that system for the weekend. Look for 60s for highs, and that will likely continue into early next week.
