Here is today's edition of the video....

Just ahead of our incoming storm system, some record highs could topple across the region today. Here are a couple of the record highs today:

Raleigh: 83°
Greensboro: 81°

That slow-moving system that I have been discussing all week will finally move through this weekend. Beginning as soon as the evening, pretty good chances of some showers and storms will be with us. Looks like we will see a round of some showers and storms this evening and tonight, then maybe another one later tomorrow.

A few severe storms are possible with hail and damaging winds the primary threats.

As the upper air low moves overhead Sunday, that cold air aloft will likely promote the development of some scattered showers and storms. Some of those will likely produce some hail.

Next week...

Cooler air will arrive for parts of next work week. Monday's highs will be in the 70s, but then I anticipate a lot of 60s for highs Tuesday and maybe Wednesday. Lows will be well down into the 40s Tuesday and Wednesday morning, and some of the cooler spots could dip into the 30s.

More warmth is on the way to round out the work week. Highs will head into the 79-83 degree range for many locations today and tomorrow. There will remain the chance of a few mainly afternoon and evening storms as well.

It was a pretty active severe weather day yesterday in Louisiana and Mississippi. This was with the extremely slow-moving storm system that is gradually approaching our area. The frontal boundary associated with this system will begin to move into the region Saturday.

At this point, I am anticipating a round or two of showers and storms Friday night and Saturday with that front.

On Sunday, the upper air low will move overhead, so some showers will be a possibility.

The weather next work week looks fantastic with lots of sun, some cooler nighttime temps, and very pleasant daytime temps.

Scattered showers and storms...

Looks like a pretty decent coverage of scattered showers and storms today. The storms that form could produce locally heavy rain, lots of lightning, and some hail.

The big system in the southern Plains finally swings through our region Saturday. Very nice weather will follow that system around here for parts of next week.

All of the details in today's video, docked below...

Another week, more warmth....

Here is today's edition of the video....give it a look....

I don't know about you, but I have to keep reminding myself that this is March. A Summer-like pattern will continue this week across the region, and that will mean more highs and lows well above average.

We will also continue to have the chance of some mainly afternoon and evening scattered showers and storms on a daily basis this week.

If you look at the upper level map across the Lower 48 this week, the dominant weather feature will be a big cut-off upper level lows that is currently forming in the southern Plains. This system will be an extremely slow-mover....in fact, it probably won't move into our region until Saturday!

This system will produce severe weather and flooding this week as it slowly crawls from the southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley.

Eventually, that system probably brings us a healthy round of rain and storms this weekend.
