Showers this morning....severe weather ahead?

>> Wednesday, April 01, 2009

Above is today's edition of the Carolina Weather Video.

A cold front is dropping into our region this morning, and some shower chances will continue to accompany the front, especially this morning. A few rumbles of thunder are also possible, but I don't expect severe weather today. Highs will be in the 60s.

A brief Carolina wedge will set up later tonight into tomorrow. So expect a cloudy Thursday with chances for rain developing with time tomorrow. Highs will likely be in the upper 50s to lower 60s in the Piedmont.

A powerful storm system will really begin strengthening in Arkansas tomorrow. I expect a significant outbreak of severe weather in the Lower Mississippi Valley, Tennessee Valley, and Deep South tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Here in the Carolinas, that wedge boundary will retreat northward as a warm front tomorrow evening and night. As the storm system nears, the chance of severe weather will spread in from the west.

So, at this juncture, severe weather is a possibility, especially later tomorrow night into Friday morning. We will keep you updated on News 14 Carolina.

Saturday will be great with lots of sun and highs in the upper 60s to near 70. But clouds will in Sunday, and some showers will be possible as soon as later Sunday afternoon. Showers and storms look likely Sunday night into Monday, and again, severe weather might wind up being an issue.

Baby watch continues....no labor as of yet. Obviously, it could be any moment, or it might not be until next week. We will see!

Matthew, do you know the gender of the baby - is it boy or girl? - TK

Thank you so much!

All indications are that it is a little girl.
