Frontal boundary is dropping into the area today, and that will combine with daytime heating to give the state numerous showers and storms, especially this afternoon. The thunderstorms will be pulse in nature, meaning they could briefly grow severe, producing some small hail and gusty winds. However, these will likely be the storms that are intense for 15-30 minutes, and then they decrease rapidly in intensity.

A very nice airmass moves in for Mother's Day. I expect very comfortable conditions outdoors tomorrow and Monday as well. Enjoy!

Mom is flying in today to spend some time with us for the next week. I will swing by the airport and pick her up, then be in the weather office early this afternoon.

If the weather does get active, keep it tuned to News 14 Carolina for all of the latest weather information.

I am sure the trumpets will be sounding from some news outlets about this being a result of global warming. Hogwash. Things like this happen when you get a low pressure, cut off from the main upper level flow, sitting over at least somewhat warm water with a favorable upper-air pattern. If you hear the global warming hysteria getting cranked up over this, ignore it. It is preposterous.
