Cold Friday weather.... weak system Saturday AM.... 2 systems next week...

>> Friday, February 28, 2014

Highs today will struggle into the low to mid 40s across the piedmont of NC under a mostly sunny sky. Then late tonight and tomorrow morning, a weakening disturbance will roll into the region and generate some very light precip. In many spots, it will not even be enough precip to measure. However, temperatures across NC will be below freezing, so the light precip could be some very brief, very light freezing drizzle or light freezing rain. There will NOT be enough precip for this to be a high-impact event, but I cannot totally rule out a slick spot or two on an elevated surface.

This would be an extremely short-lived thing...sun will build in tomorrow with highs reaching the upper 40s. Highs Sunday then surge into the low and mid 60s ahead of our next cold front.

That next system rolls in Monday with a round of rain for most of the region.

Later next week, there continue to be indications of a more significant system. The GFS is a big rain event, the European is a very chilly rain event, and the Canadian indicated a big western Carolinas snow storm.

Any of those options are possible...lots of moving pieces. See the video for more.
