Milder for Easter weekend....some showers work in...

>> Friday, March 29, 2013

Our slow warming trend continues, and we will see highs this weekend at least in the ballpark of average for the first time in a while.

Some showers are possible tonight into tomorrow morning across SC and into southern NC, and then a cold front will spread showers across the region at times for Easter. It won't rain all day, but some showers will be possible from time to time.

Another big shot of cold air is on the way by Tuesday and Wednesday next week. See the video for more....

Slow warming trend into the Easter weekend...

>> Thursday, March 28, 2013

It's a very slow process, but a warming trend is underway around the region. However, highs again today will still be well below average.

Some shower chances will arrive for Easter Sunday, and it appears some outdoor sunrise services around the region might have to dodge some showers. Sunday will not be a wash-out, but there will be some showers around at times.

Don't look now, but another period of below-average temps is on the way by the middle of next week.

More details on all of this in today's video:

Chilly weather continues...

>> Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Well below average temps remain in place across the region today, and we will continue to run below average right on into the Easter weekend.

I am not sure some folks are realizing how impressive this current pattern of sustained cold really is. We are talking about days and days here of highs 10-20+ degrees below average. Very impressive!

Snow continues to pile up in the mountains, and another day of northwest flow snow is on the way today, and some spots will still see some snow linger into at least tomorrow morning.

For the piedmont, look for some rain and snow showers later today. They won't amount to much of significant, but they will be there.

For Easter Sunday, rain should arrive later in the day, but for much of the Carolinas, we just might hold off the rain long enough to get the outdoor sunrise services in.

For some more thoughts on the current cold, the mountain snow, and the pattern for next week and beyond, see the video....

Below average temps continue this week...

>> Monday, March 25, 2013

This week will continue to feature below average temps. In fact, temps should stay at least a little bit below average right through Easter Sunday.

An impressive late March storm system continues to deliver snow to the mountains of E TN and NC up into the Virginias and the mid-Atlantic. Snow showers continues over much of TN and KY, and some snowflakes have made it over the mountains and into the foothills and piedmont of NC.

A few rain or snow showers will remain possible in the piedmont today and tomorrow as upper level energy moves through.

See today's video for much more, including a wrap-up of some impressive rain totals with this system in parts of the Southeast.
