Midday update....

Band of moderate to heavy snow looks to set up shop in a wide swath centered near I-85. High rates of snow will really crank up in parts of Georgia up into the Upstate and likely up into parts of the NC Piedmont in time. Modeling has come into fairly good agreement, and we will likely see that band of moderate to heavy snow gradually pivot up through N GA, SC, and the NC Piedmont and shift eastward with time.

Accumulation amounts are going to vary greatly depending on where the heavier embedded bands set up. Would not be surprised to see some 6+" amounts somewhere around the region while others see only minor accumulations.

The heavier snow bands could very well develop over into eastern parts of NC as well by this evening.

Those that are getting the snow....enjoy!

Thoughts for triad accum. totals remain the same?

Matt, what are your thoughts for Hyde County in the coastal plain? I have heard and seen a million different forecast. I know we are supposed to get some of the heaviest precip and I am wondering if that could help aid in dynamic cooling. What are your thoughts?

Hi Matthew-

It began snowing here in Hickory around 10:30 AM. It has picked up in intensity and now the grass and shrubs are becoming covered. It's beautiful outside here. The more, the merrier, in my opinion!

Snowing in Reidsville, NC. coming down pretty good too. Grass not covered yet.

31 Degrees in Bessemer City, snow heavy and sticky to grassy surfaces.

Going to let the map I put out this morning ride....the hay is in the barn. However, there will be wide fluctuations in amounts, in since it is daytime, we are battling the sun with accums too.

Matt, when will the precip wind down here in winston? By that I mean, when will our chance of measurable snow end? NWS still says snow through midnight tonight but radar looks like it might end by early evening, late afternoon...

I would say this evening, but it is tough to tell when the dynamics really shift out....

Matt, what are your thoughts in Eastern North Carolina? Dynamics shift our way tonight and cold air also. What do you tnink?
